Little League ball players take to Main Street this Saturday
Written by Chris MillerLittle infielders, outfielders, pitchers and catchers will be lined up on South Main Street this Saturday for the annual All American Baseball and Softball Parade in downtown Akron.
Leagues from around the city -- Goodyear Heights, North Akron, Ellet, Kenmore, West Akron Little League and West Akron Baseball League -- will send a total of 1,200 youngsters to parade down Main Street and be cheered on by family and fans Saturday morning beginning at 11 a.m..
The route begins at Cedar and Main streets, heads north on Main to Bowery and then west on Bowery to finish at Lock 4.

Griffins advance to state championships
Written by Akron Public SchoolsCongratulations to the Buchtel High School Griffins with an impressive 52-8 victory over the undefeated Marlington Dukes this past Saturday to advance to the Division III state football championship game.
Show your Griffin pride on Saturday, Dec. 4, when Buchtel plays Columbus Bishop Watterson in the Division III state championship game. The game will be played at Paul Brown Stadium in Massillon and begins at 3 p.m. Tickets for the game will be on sale at Buchtel High School this Tuesday through Friday from 7 to 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m.

Scholarship fund honors legendary Browns receiver
Written by Kristen AshbyA new scholarship fund at Akron Community Foundation is carrying on the legacy of a local hero. Established in May, the Dante B. Lavelli Football Academic Scholarship Fund honors the career of the Browns football legend by helping athletes at Hudson High School – Lavelli’s alma mater – attend college.
